Could a God of War Ragnarok PC release date be on the horizon? The unveiling of the God of War Ragnarok trailer has placed Kratos and Atreus’ forthcoming adventure at the top of many fans’ must-have lists.
As a sequel to one of the most beloved titles on the PS4, this much-anticipated game carries substantial expectations as it potentially arrives on PC.
God of War Ragnarok ventures deeper into the intricate dynamics between Kratos and Atreus while maintaining the reboot’s distinctive blend of high-octane, brutal combat. Let’s explore what we know thus far about the potential PC Release Date.
God of War Ragnarok PC Release on Steam
God of War Ragnarok’s PS5 version launched on 9th November 2022. The fine print at the end of its reveal trailer, which you can watch below, includes a mention about it “coming to PlayStation consoles,” which puts it in the realm of exclusives.
A God of War Ragnarok PC release date was confirmed at the PlayStation State of Play on the 30th of May, revealing that the PC version will support Widescreen monitors and will be released on the 19th of September.
While Sony has made its intention to bring more PlayStation 5 games to PC, there are no signs at the moment that this will apply to all of its titles.
Sony mentions on the God of War Ragnarok Steam page that the game will need a PlayStation Network account:
“PlayStation Network Account required, subject to the PlayStation Terms of Services and User Agreement.”
- Confirmed God of War Ragnarok PC release date: 19th September, 2024
The inaugural DLC for God of War Ragnarok, titled “Valhalla,” released exclusively on the PlayStation 5 back in December 2023. Despite the excitement surrounding this launch, there had been no information regarding a PC version of God of War Ragnarok up until now.
“Embark with Kratos to Valhalla on a deeply personal and reflective journey towards a future he never thought possible. Master challenges of mind and body on an unraveling adventure that blends the beloved combat from God of War Ragnarök with brand new elements inspired by the roguelite genre.”
In late May 2022, the game received a rating from the Korea Media Rating Board, but there was no specific reference to a potential PC launch.
In an interview from May 2023 with Famitsu, translated by ResetEra, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan suggested that, while PC ports remain part of the company’s strategy, they may continue to launch years after the PS5 versions.
“We also fully understand the importance of PS5 exclusive titles. As I mentioned earlier, PlayStation Studios’ main responsibility is to have people enjoy the game experience using the latest PS. We are increasing the number of PS5-exclusive titles and staggering the release of the PC version,” Ryan said.
“I often have the opportunity to ask game fans for their opinions, and when I ask them about the time lag, they say that selling the PC version two or three years after the release of the PS version is accepted favorably.”
This could mean that we’ll have to wait a bit longer before we hear anything about a potential God of War Ragnarok PC release date. We’ll remain vigilant, intercepting any news-bearing ravens, and promptly update this article with any new information as it becomes available.
