Paradox Interactive has released patch 1.12 for Crusader Kings 3, introducing changes to plagues and adding new historical event chains ready for its new DLC Legends of Crusader Kings 3.
Crusader Kings 3 will enjoy a free-to-play weekend starting tomorrow and closing on Monday, to celebrate the release of Patch 1.12 and its new content for Legends of Crusader Kings 3.
CK3 Patch Notes for V1.12.5
Legends of Crusader Kings 3 is designed to make the game more welcoming to newcomers by making historical grand strategy games “less intimidating”. This makes it even more of a recommendation in our list of The Best Strategy Games for Beginners.
Paradox has made an “express” version of the tutorial, so you can breeze through it if needed, and it also fixed some community complaints from the Legends of the Dead DLC.
Let’s just shut up and get to the important part, the full patch notes:
- Game Content
- Added historically-inspired events for Matilda di Canossa, Robert the Fox, Yahya Dhunnunid, and Vratislav of Bohemia. Themes include Matilda's marriage to Geoffrey the Hunchback, Vratislav's rivalry with his brother, and Robert's interactions with Raiktor the Byzantine pretender-monk.
- Added a new, shorter version of the Tutorial. The original, longer tutorial is still available.
- Bugfixes
- Added missing cooldown to physician_epidemic_events.1040 (Alms), set to 20 years.
- Adjusted epidemic cooldowns to follow a stricter 50-year rule after an epidemic, rather than the previous 15-year rule.
- Fixed an issue where a Legitimacy Gain toast appeared incorrectly after certain wars.
- Corrected the travel completion event to ensure Traveler Trait XP can be gained properly.
- Balance
- Plague events now only occur if within your Domain or near the Capital, reducing insignificant plague events in large realms.
- General occurrence of plague events reduced by approximately 30-50%.
- The AI now enters seclusion more readily during plagues, unless they have traits like bravery or irrationality.
- Modified the Secluded modifier to affect fewer stats but increase legitimacy loss and reduce diplomacy.
- The Isolate Capital decision now incurs a small legitimacy loss.
- Minor plagues frequency reduced by 20%, Major and Apocalyptic plagues frequency increased by 5%.
- Added a 'Disabled' option to the Plague Frequency Game Rule, eliminating all plagues except the Black Death.
- Lowered Plague Frequency settings no longer disable Achievements.
- Reduced the outbreak chances in provinces recently recovered from specific epidemics.
- The AI will avoid hosting social activities during the first three years to focus on infrastructure.
- Reduced worldwide hunts by approximately two-thirds.
- Guests will refuse to attend activities if there's an epidemic in your domain or their capital county.
- Reduced Prestige and gold rewards from various activities, while increasing Intimidation Tour rewards.
- Pilgrimage Piety rewards adjusted for more gradual gains unless taking pious options.
- Changed Plague Resistance from affecting the County to only the Barony.
- Boosted tax from Pastures and increased the 'Pressed my Claim' modifier's effectiveness and duration.
- Increased the cooldown for several epidemic-related events to reduce their frequency.
- Interface
- Each Legend now has a unique map color to distinguish them from each other.
- Localization
- Shortened the text of the 'A Shadow Over X' event to emphasize the key elements.
